Kansas State football is one win away from extending its Sunflower Showdown winning streak to 18 games, but can Collin Klein and the Wildcats overcome their recent struggles to beat Kansas? With Kansas State coming off disappointing performances against Cincinnati and Houston, the pressure is mounting ahead of one of the biggest rivalry games of the season. Jon Grove of GoPowercat joins Locked On Kansas State to break down the biggest players, matchups and predictions for Saturday's showdown in Manhattan. We start with the offensive playmakers who must step up. Jaron Tibbs has an opportunity to establish himself as Kansas State's top wide receiver, while Garrett Oakley needs to become a reliable target for Avery Johnson. But the biggest offensive question might be the running game. After Kansas surrendered 287 rushing yards against Utah, could Rodney Fields Jr. finally deliver the breakout performance Kansas State desperately needs? We also discuss why Klein must commit to running the football and how Johnson's leadership could make the difference. Then there's the turnover battle. Kansas State has yet to record a defensive interception this season, while Kansas quarterback Isaiah Marshall has thrown four interceptions. Can the Wildcats finally create the defensive takeaways they've been missing? We examine the importance of pressuring Marshall, limiting explosive plays and getting contributions from Kansas State's secondary and special teams. Finally, we reveal our official Sunflower Showdown predictions, including a potential game-winning field goal from Luis Rodriguez. Plus, we look around the Big 12 at major matchups involving BYU, Notre Dame, Houston, Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Texas Tech. Can Kansas State extend its dominance over Kansas to 18 consecutive victories, or will the Jayhawks finally end the streak? #KansasState #KStateFootball #SunflowerShowdown Photo Credit: Evert Nelson Go AD Free and More with the Everydayer's Club!
