Kansas State football has beaten Kansas 17 consecutive times, but is Collin Klein's first Sunflower Showdown the game that finally ends the Wildcats' incredible winning streak? After disappointing Big 12 performances against Cincinnati and Houston, Kansas State enters its rivalry matchup with serious questions about its defense, coaching decisions and ability to compete against conference opponents. Jon Grove of GoPowercat joins Locked On Kansas State to discuss why this year's Sunflower Showdown feels more dangerous than previous meetings and what's at stake for the Wildcats. Kansas State's run defense has become a major concern after surrendering 271 rushing yards against Cincinnati and struggling to contain Houston's offense. Now former Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards returns to Manhattan wearing a Kansas uniform. Could Edwards deliver the explosive plays that finally end Kansas State's dominance in this rivalry? We examine the biggest matchups, including Avery Johnson versus Isaiah Marshall, Kansas State defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson's familiarity with the Jayhawks and whether Collin Klein can make the necessary adjustments to get his team back on track. We also discuss the pressure facing Klein and Kansas head coach Lance Leipold, the potential impact on bowl eligibility and why this rivalry could influence future recruiting battles. And there's major news beyond the football field. Kansas State president Richard Linton is leaving for Virginia Tech, raising important questions about the university's leadership, athletic director Gene Taylor and the future of Wildcats athletics. What could a new university president mean for Kansas State football and basketball? With the Wildcats fighting to extend their 17-game winning streak and restore confidence in Klein's first season, Saturday's Sunflower Showdown could be one of the most important games of the year. Can Kansas State keep its rivalry dominance alive, or is this finally the year Kansas breaks through? #KansasState #KStateFootball #SunflowerShowdown Go AD Free and More with the Everydayer's Club!
